You Are Vermin

You slimy dirty thing, yes you recognize when I say it
Be very afraid because the boogy man is coming to get you, he always does
Not from under your bed, but from within you, how will you escape this?
HAHAHAHA
I am talking about the ego, YOUR EGO :O , yes it will eventually have to be stricken down and killed,
and it will need to be beaten with a stick many times before dieing. It is the ego in you that is afraid, always. It is afraid of the shiftless sands (the shiftless YOU), it cannot survive your glance. And it is always shaking. When you will become aware of it in yourself, when you just look at it, it is already starting to disappear. But wait, it begins to tell you great things, "no please! you have so much to live for, don't look at me! go and watch tv! chase woman! play guitar! MAKE FRIENDS WITH YOUR MOM!!" these are its very words. It will pull out all of its weapons, but this time you are not tricked, you dont even fight, you just watch it, listen to it, even laugh at it. It is afraid of you very much, your ego cannot survive in your presence. You are the boogy man! And it will not be long after looking at it to realize that you are tired of playing games FOR it. Its promises wont please you.

If I am not this ego, these strivings, desires, feelings, thoughts, ideas, than who am I?!? who the hell am I??

  1. Very interesting.

I can see what you mean. Your ego tends to take control of your actions, grabbing you and directing where you go without you conciously thinking of it. But the more aware you are, the more your ego shrinks into the corner.

  2. Good point. I think our ego controls a lot of what we do ( or some people anyways) If we didn't let our ego control us I think that we would all be genuinely happier.

  3. You have to ask yourself this, what really belongs to me? Its a mixture of an intense awareness and taking it into what you are experiencing, its questioning it without asking questions.

  4. I wonder... if I am rid of my ego what would be left over? My ego fights me tooth and nail to be as I SHOULD be and not what I WANT to be. Let's ditch the "shoulds" shall we? We can throw our egos in a pit and make em cagefight or something. That'll show em. :)

  5. The ego is not a single entity, it is the thousands of things your attention identify s with, meaning you take them as yourself. It is the should and the want, both are thoughts and strivings, you are the one that watches, dont be too concerned of these things, you are that stillness, that quietness beyond the this and that that racks your mind.

  6. You are right about ego not being too good. BUT, it can be good to some extent. It can give you determination, desires, and a sort of confidence. I almost wish I had a bit of a bigger ego. Also, to answer your question of who are you? You are who you want to be, one day you can be one thing and the next another, it is all up to you. Nothing can define who you are or what you do.
