Associations of Grey

Associations of Grey

Gray is the color or smoke and smog, of chemical trails that scrape the sky. Gray is likened to silver, but much less shine and value in my mind. Funerals and stones, grey is sullen and symbolic to times of passing and uncertainty. It can be associated with pain. The areas of gray are perhaps not as friendly as yellow or green, not as purple and orange. It is a neutral color after all, a mixing of the base of white and black.

Gray is a form of wisdom.. it is the color of an older womans hair, it is compleation. It is the result of many moons passed, and also the moons surface color. It holds mystery, and speaks volumes. Often it is a base, a backdrop from which we paint. Grey is sometimes a lonesomeness and sometimes an artistic stretch. It has depth and is solid. It knows of itself and is strong, strong and neutral, perhaps the most neutral of all colors in the spectrum.

In a gray sky, a grandmaster pigeon that has flapped its beaten wings. It wishes to fly to the moon and be in its company. Simultaneously, like a gray stone.. it wants to dive into the oceans depth and purge itself from Earthly measures. The stones weight allows it to sink.. and perhaps reach a sandy bottom where it can eternally dwell, undisturbed and utterly alone.

Gray is the hermits robe, the wizards cloth.. it is a progress distilled, showing wisdom, but perhaps an inclination to wander and stray from its sourcing. The rubber ties on a witches broom, the looking glass and spectacles. It is curious, this color and as I stare and decipher it, it stares into me. It analyzes me as I do it.

Gray.
